RYA Powerboat Level 1 and 2 Courses are now available on our 6m Ribeye
Course Aim:
To Teach you the boat handling skills and seamanship to become a competent Powerboat Driver.
Prior Experience Required: None
No prior boating experience is needed. The course is tailored to suit both people completely new to boating and those who have been boating for seasons.
Course Duration and Instructor to Student Ratio
The Course takes place over two days, approximate timings are 9.30 - 16.30
Each course will have a maximum of 3 Students to 1 Instructor. One to one instruction is also available.
Course Content
The Powerboat Level 2 course covers the following topics:
Back on shore we will also look at:
different types of craft and their advantages / disadvantages, personal and boat safety checks, awareness of other water users , collision regulations (IRPCS), local byelaws, towing and being towed, communication with other craft, emergency procedures. A core part of the second day is to look charts, tides and a compass and prepare and execute a passage plan through the Harbour.
Direct Assessment
If you feel you have enough previous experience and knowledge to obtain your Level 2 Certificate a direct assessment can be arranged without the need of attending a full 2 day course. Please contact us if this is the case for further details.
International Certificate of Competence
Should you wish to continue your boating experience abroad once you have trained with us we can provide you with the relevant forms which alongside your Level 2 Certificate and a photo will get you your 'Licence.' For RYA Members this process is free, for non RYA Member an additional charge of £39 is payable.
